Here's an article I wrote for Divine Intervention this month. (You can find out more about this exclusive matchmaking service at http://www.divinematchmaking.ca/). Wanted: handsome, tanned, wealthy, baggage-free, yacht-owning, single 6-foot male who can read my mind, respect my hormones, support my retail therapy, do things my way, listen attentively and doesn’t sweat, snore, burp, fart, guffaw or wear white socks with sandals. Not… Continue

Rok Sivante Slowing Down, Healing...

When will me make healing a priority? Our culture & society seems to have us intent on pushing forward, overcoming challenges, always being on the go, persisting, staying motivated, etc, etc, etc. While these are all necessary elements in the process of creating health, wealth, success, and happiness, they're only a piece of the puzzle, often blinding us to the need of the counter, of resting, relaxing, letting go, and healing... Our planet has been sick. The environment, the economy, war… Continue

Olga Sheean Empowerment in recession: get the message and thrive

Does your spine tingle with dread when the post arrives? Is your credit card red-hot from constant use? Do you have nightmares about queuing for the dole? If the current economic crisis has fanned your financial fears into full-blown panic, then it’s time to take a look at what’s really going on. In a crisis like this, we blame the banks, bad investments and dodgy government. We feel powerless, angry and resentful about what’s been done to us, beyond our control. But what we don’t realise is th… Continue

Olga Sheean A special questionnaire for literary agents: now it's YOUR turn to prove yourself

[Have you written a book but been unable to find a good literary agent? If so, you might enjoy this. I actually sent it to a few agents but, strangely, never got a response. Not even a giggle. Very sad.] 1. What sets you apart from the millions of other agents out there? - I care - I pretend that I care - I work from the heart, not my Rolodex - I’m filling out this questionnaire 2. What makes you think you’ve got what it takes to pitch good writers to the right publisher? - I’ve done it once b… Continue

Olga Sheean Are you human? Take the test

The Humanity Index The Humanity Index is a way to gauge your willingness and capacity to be a decent, fully functioning, powerful human being — with a sense of humour and with the magnetism to attract what you want. It will provide a measure of how engaged you are in life, how committed you are to being fully you, and how much you believe in your ability to make a difference. (If you’re too jaded to fill it out, or if you just can’t find the time because you’ve got 5,000 friends… Continue

Nancy Watts Obama Mama

I have been and continue to be a huge supporter of Barack Obama. My kids call me Omama. For the first time for as long as I can remember it was actually a pleasure to vote for the President of the United States. I was so disillusioned when George Bush was elected in 2000, the process was painful and embarrassing and the result disastrous. When the country re-elected him in 2004 I was just exasperated and depressed. The worst part was that it became so clear to me that I lived in country where th… Continue

Nancy Watts Stepping it up and Stepping in...

"There is a Celtic saying that heaven and earth are only three feet a part-but in the ‘thin places’ the distance becomes even smaller. A thin place is where the veil that separates the sacred from the pedestrian is so thin that one is able to catch a glimpse of the mystery beyond. A thin place is anywhere our hearts are more open to the ‘more’-when we feel the distance we often put between us and the divine evaporating." But let me back up a bit so this story can begin to make sense. I turned 5… Continue

Yvette Dubel Where are we now and where are we heading?

Guy Farmer How to Be Successful in Life

Everyone measures success in life differently. The great thing about our lives is that we can move them in any direction we would like by taking purposeful action. Ask yourself the following questions to see if you are successful: 1. Am I doing what I love? 2. Is what I am doing a reflection of who I am inside? 3. Do I experience joy doing my work? 4. Am I truly happy? 5. What am I doing to make sure I achieve my dreams? When you begin to examine your life you will notice some themes that keep… Continue

Guy Farmer The Life You Were Born to Live

Each one of us is born with a set of unique talents and abilities. No two people are the same. It is these skills that make us who we are. Yet we spend a lot of time covering up and ignoring those dream. Sometimes they are buried under so much stuff that we resign ourselves to never pursuing them and leave them as a dull ache inside us. Each of us deserves to live a life of joy and show the world who we really are. We do our best when we function from that place inside us that reflects who we r… Continue

Guy Farmer Is Your Ego Getting in the Way?

Many people get caught in the trap of living their lives with a wounded ego. Ego refers to our inner perception of the outside world. This means that we can experience the world based both on our most noble and healthy impulses or most toxic and disabling. If our perception is positive, we tend to view our role in the world as interconnected with others and healthily interacting. We base our decisions on the security we feel about ourselves and our sense of balance and well-being. If we function… Continue

Carl Bruggemeier Ethical Dilemmas!

Each of us as individuals, family members, parents, business people, companies and countries are faced with challenges everyday. How we deal with these situations says a great deal about who we are and what we believe in. More often than not when confronted with difficult issues there may be options or choices that are required. We could be faced with competing forces or opposing points of view and many times these forces have a strong voice and a hidden motive or agenda. One person's righteous… Continue

Nancy Watts Mother's

I read a great commentary yesterday about mother's. It ended by saying..."Laud them or lament them, ask your psychiatrist how they molded you or messed you up. The one enduring fact of life-personal and public-is that they remain the great indispensables. Nothing happens without them. And when we are at last without them, there's a hole in the soul nothing can ever quite replace." My mother was diagnosed with cancer 12 years ago today. She died 5 short months later at the age of 64. So, I fully… Continue

Carl Bruggemeier Meaning In Life - Create Your Legacy - Now!

Does anyone really know the meaning of life? Only we, as thinking individuals, can answer that question for ourselves. Unfortunately, the answer, for some people is not terribly helpful because it does not really tell them anything that they are able to put to use. The word "meaning" itself is very vague to begin with, which leaves people in a position where they may not have established definitive goals and objectives. Trying to live a life of purpose that is satisfying and fulfilling seems to… Continue

Olga Sheean Are you switched on or in standby mode? Take a reality check

When Einstein discovered that light could bend, he rocked the world. When a scientist discovers a cure for cancer, it will undoubtedly make worldwide news. But if someone tells you that you can change your life by changing your subconscious programming, what do you do? Do you jump up and down with excitement and start imagining all the possibilities? Or do you sigh with jaded cynicism and wonder how many hundreds of ‘friends’ you have on Facebook? When we continue to search for answers, even if… Continue

Guy Farmer Achieving Your Dreams

Our dreams are a reflection of who we really are. I'm not talking about the dreams where you are riding a horse through the shopping mall, these are the dreams about what you really want to do with your life. These dreams come from a genuine place inside you and reflect your true self. Perhaps they link you to when you were a child and wished you would be an actor or when you graduated from high school and anticipated being a great mathematician. Then life gets in the way but it doesn't have to… Continue
